Episode 34 on Monday the 6th of July 2009 Cuba Serrano Superior

Okay, so this one hit our cupping table, and we don't know a much about it!

We believe it to be the Typica varietal, and a washed coffee. We also think it's from the Sierra Maestra region to the east of the country.

What we definately know is that it's harvested between October and December, and is sun dried.

We also know that in the cup it's got a great body and smoothness, with a hint of roasted nuts and a spicy kick (think black pepper mixed with five spice). The most exemplary thing about this coffee is its body, which because of its length and depth means it makes a great espresso. However, that doesn't mean it's not good brewed as well. This is a good all rounder coffee, with some character, a novel, cute origin and a notable cup profile.

Nice one Steve, good to see different brewing methods too, I’ll have to convince the other half that I need one!

    Thanks again

I am fairly new to the world of speciality coffees and as a result find you IMM podcast a great way to find out about different coffees and brewing methods. Would it be possible at some point to elaborate on some of the descriptors used e.g. acidity. I see this term used all the time but have struggled to actually pin down what it means and how it effects the taste of coffee.

Well I’ve got 500g of this green now but I’ve not had a chance to try it!!
More interesting to me is the brew method. It’s nothing like anything I’ve seen middle eastern family & friends use but EXACTLY the same as the way my Russian girlfriend makes coffee It sure is potent! Though it seems to obliterate origin characteristics in what I’ve drunk. I’ll get her to try it on done of this cuba!

Any plan to mention suggested profiles for the Behmor as part of the review?

Behmor review a possibility in the future, if I ever catch my own tail :)
